The Magick of Sundays

Those ambitious, successful spells and charms will be heightened by working on the day of the week that has the planetary influence of the sun. So light those sunny candles, wear some luminous colors, and break out the gold jewelry! Bake up some cinnamon rolls or low-fat cinnamon muffins for an enchanting family breakfast. Take an orange with you to eat at lunch today. Try using a little magickal aromatherapy and burn some cinnamon-scented incense to encourage success and wealth today. Make the talisman to keep your solar magick with you. Sprinkle some dried marigold petals around your house-or across the threshold-to pull triumph and protection toward you and your family.

Get outside and tip up your face to the sun. Take a walk outside, and soak up some sunshine! Acknowledge the power of Sunna or Helios as they blaze across the sky and bring courage and motivation into your life. Sit outside at sunrise on a Sunday morning and bask in its warm, rosy-golden glow Acknowledge Brigid as the inner, creative spark of imagination and inspiration. She can help these gifts burn brightly within your own soul. Use your imagination and create your own brand of witchery and magick. Here comes the sun, and it’s your turn to shine!

Sunday, February 12

Traditionally, Sunday is the first day of the week. It is also known as the Lord’s Day from it original association with the Lord, that is, the Sun God, personified as Helios. But in the Northern Tradition, the sun is seen as feminine, personified as the goddess known as Phoebe. The sun rules the conscious element of the human being, the ego, the real self, and Sunday is the day on which this conscious power is at its most effective.

The Witches Guide to Sunday

Ruler: Sun

Colors: Gold or yellow

Power Hours: Sunrise and sunset.

Key Words: Love, happiness, health, wealth

It is easy to spot the ruler of this day by its name. Sunday is the day of the sun. Community work, volunteer services, exercise, outdoor sports, buying, selling, speculating, meeting people, anything involving groups, running fairs and raffles, growing crops and taking care of all health matters fall under the influence of the Sun. With all this activity and the brightness of the sun, it’s easy to see why the child that is born on the Sabbath day is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

On Sundays, the hour of sunrise will be the most powerful time to work, especially if you want to infuse energy into your work. Sunset is the second best time and is favored when you need to calm down a situation. Check the local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

The first day of the week is ruled by the Sun. It is an excellent time to work efforts involving business partnerships, work promotions, business ventures, and professional success. Spells where friendships, mental or physical health, or bringing joy back into life are an issue work well on this day, too.

Sunday is Ruled by the Sun

Sunday corresponds to the sun, our closest star. This day is full of wonder and all sorts of magical potential for success, wealth, and fame. Sundays are for personal achievements of any kind such as working towards a promotion at your job, seeking fame and wealth, or being acknowledged for a job well done. All of these goals fall under the golden influence of the sun. Some suggestions for Sunday enchantments would include:

Sitting outside at sunrise and calling on the goddess Brigid for illumination and inspiration

Wearing gold jewelry or clothing that is gold or sunshine yellow to pull some color magic into your life

Arranging a few sunflowers in a vase and empowering these “flowers of the sun” for fame and ambition

Gathering up the common marigold flower and scattering it’s petals about to encourage prosperity

Baking up a batch of cinnamon rolls for the family and enchanting them for health and success

Snacking on a solar fruit, the orange, and enjoying the magical boost it brings to your life

Daily Magickal Application for Sunday, February 12

The Latin term for Sunday, our first day of the week, is Dies Solis (“sun’s day”). In ancient Greek, it was called Hemera Heliou. In the Old English language, it was known as Sunnandaeg; in Middle English, Sonenday. All of these titles mean the same thing: the day of the sun.

What do you think of when you feel the sun shine down on you? What sorts of enchantments and energies do you think would be complementary to a day named after our closest star? Sunday brings those bright solar energies into your life and has the magickal correspondences of success, promotion, leadership, pride, light, generosity, warmth, fitness, and personal growth. Astrologically, the sun symbolizes the conscious self and rules the zodiac sign of Leo.

The charms and spells that would complement this magickal day of the sun are ones for personal achievements of any kind-such as if you are seeking fame and wealth, working for that much-deserved promotion at work, or being acknowledged for a job well done. Health issues, increasing personal power, or simply sticking to your diet and being proud of what you have accomplished all fall under the sun’s golden influence.

February’s Full Moon Rite for Blessing & Consecrating Your Tools

February 10th, 2017

February's Full Moon Rite for Blessing & Consecrating Your Tools

February’s moon has many names Ice Moon, Storm Moon, Horning Moon, Hunger Moon, Wild Moon, Red and Cleansing Moon, Quickening Moon, and Big Winter Moon.

In the moon of February it is appropriate to work magic for purification, consecration, healing, growth, responsibility, forgiveness, love of yourself and new plans.

Tonight I bring forth the tools that I wish to have blessed and consecrated for my magickal work ahead. Strengthen their power, strengthen their purpose and let them always meet my needs and serve my purpose.

Tool Consecration and Blessing:

Supplies needed: These are all items that are normally on the altar table for most rituals anyway, but if you don’t use them on a regular basis, here is a list.
* Sea salt in a small bowl
* Water in a small bowl (as pure as possible)
* Sage or incense
* Athame or sword
* Tool or tools you wish blessed & consecrated
If you are just starting out, you may even want to consecrate the altar table itself.

Consecrate and cleanse the circle with sage or incense.
Consecrate and cleanse the circle with salt and water.
Take your athame or sword and Cast the circle around the outside of the circle. –
Call the quarters.

Earth: I call to the solid, cold and frozen ground under my feet. As you awaken from your long winter’s nap. I acknowledge your strength during this awakening season and ask you to join now in the consecrating and blessing of my ritual tool. Welcome to the realm of Earth!

Water: I call to the waters that surround me; the seas and the rivers that flow out into the sea. I understand your strength in this realm, you nourish me with your flowing waters and provide the Earth with much needed moisture and sustance. I ask that you come forth and join me in consecrating & blessing of my tool. Welcome to the realm of Water!

Sky: I call to the Sky above my head, the clear fresh air and the crisp breeze at Springtime. O imderstand that without you no winds would blow and I would not be able to survive with your breath of fresh air daily. I ask that you come forth and join me in consecrating and blessing of my tool this evening. Welcome to the Realm of Wind!

Ancestors: You are our ancestors. It is your gentle feet that have stood on this ground, who have walked this earth before me. You lived, worked and played here and I acknowledge your presence now. Hail and Welcome!

Spirit of Place: Welcome, Spirit of this place. It is your rivers that flow through this green place, into the sea. Your energy that fills the harbors and allows the ships to sail. I feel your strength and your spirit. Hail and Welcome!

Sit comfortably in your the circle before your altar.

Choose the tool you wish to bless. Take the tool in your hands. Raise it to the sky.

Great Goddess bless this tool(you can insert the type of tool you want blessed)
That it may be used for good and never harm
That it may help me in my craft
And aid me in my magickal work
From this day forward
May it be blessed and consecrated
By the power of Earth [sprinkle with salt]
By the power of Air [waft with feather, incense or sage]
By the power of Fire [pass over candle or through flame if fireproof]
And by the power of Water [sprinkle with water]
And by the power of the Spirit which lies within us all
So Mote It Be

After your tool is consecrated & blessed, take a moment of silence, and visualize using them in future rituals with powerful results.

If you have prepared yourself Cakes and Ale now is the time to partake of them.

Now say:
It has now come to the time of my rite when I must say goodbye or bid farewell to all those who have been called to this time and place.

Spirit of Place, I thank you for being with me today in this rite, now go if you must but stay if you will, I bid you Hail and Farewell!

Ancestors, You, who are my ancestors, and have walked this earth before me. It is your gentle feet that have stood on this ground. In the past you lived, worked and played and I thank you for your presence here today, go if you must but stay if you can, I bid you hail and farewell!

Sky, I call with thanks to the Realm of Sky for attending my rite now go if you must but stay if you will, I bid you Hail and Farewell Sky!

Sea, I call with thanks to the Realm of Sea for attending my rite now go if you must but stay if you will, I bid you Hail and Farewell Sky!

Earth, I call with thanks to the Realm of Earth for attending my rite now go if you must but stay if you will, I bid you Hail and Farewell Earth!

Now walk around the outside of the circle with your staff and bells, come back into the circle and say:

May the circle be open, yet unbroken, may the love of the Goddess be always in my hearts, merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.

The circle is now open, go in peace.

“Let’s Talk With the Witch” Series 101 (Part 3) - The Witches Ordains

Part 3 of the Witches' Ordains deals with the relationships within the Craft

...Concerning the relationship within the Craft

Witches do not point out the identity of other witches to the general public or give addresses, or anything that can betray any of us.
Do nothing that will endanger anyone in the Craft, or which will bring them into conflict with the law of the land or any of your persecutors.
Do not gossip or speak evil of other witches.
Never lie to any of the Wicca.
Never use your magickal skills for show, pride, vanity or glory.
Keep within your Book of Shadows a record of your own rites and learnings.
Do not lend your Book of Shadows to anyone. You may allow someone to copy it though.
Property owned by Crafters should be guarded both mundanely and spiritually by the Witch.
Never use your personal power for evil purposes or attacks. If someone attacks you, you can defend yourself by asking the Goddess for justice.
Magickal bindings can cost you dearly. Learn to banish negativity instead.
Know that thoughts are things; and what you create in thought may manifest in reality.
A Witch's power grows in direct relation with his or her level of wisdom.
As long as you are acting in accordance with a positive belief system, don't worry what others think of you and say about it.
Injuries, accidents, sickness, and poverty are often manifestations of low self-esteem or negative programming, not hexes.
Magick use should be viewed as sacred.
Witches may teach others about the Craft if the place is safe, the teacher is knowledgeable, the student is willing, and the information is available publicly or is not secret to the organization to which he or she belongs.
Never do anything to disgrace the Goddess and the Craft.

“Let’s Talk With the Witch” Series 101 (Part 2) - The Witches Ordains

Part 2 of the Witches Ordains deal with the relationship of the Witch and with others

...Concerning the relationship of the Witch with others

Revere, honor, tend, and heal the Earth
Of that which you grow, make or use, let as much as possible return to the Earth as an offering to Her, as a way to nourish the cycle of life.
Do not judge those of other paths, but offer them love and aid.
Do not steal from human, animal, or spirit; if you have needs you can't meet, turn to your community.
Offer friendship and hospitality to strangers who visit among you.
You shall never handfast or wed someone you don't love.
Honor the relationships and commitments of others, and don't couple together if it will cause harm to another.
Raise your children with kindness, feed, clothe, and house them as well as you can. Show them love and affection, teach them strength and wisdom.
Deal fairly and honestly in all your transactions with others, following the letter and spirit of any contract you agree.

“Let’s Talk With the Witch” Series 101 (Part 1) - The Witches Ordains

February 10th, 2017

Tonight starts our offical segment, "Let's Talk With A Witch." After many ideas and thoughts on where to start our series, we decided to start with the Laws and Guidelines that governs a way a witch is suppose to live. These Laws and Guidelines are the foundation for our belief system. We hope you enjoy today's session and you will find a copy of the ordains below for your enjoyment. Print them out, read them, put them in your BOS.

The Ordains (Part 1)

On the Witch's personal standards and spirituality

An ye harm none, do as ye will.
If you know the Rede is being broken, you must work strongly against it.
Watch, listen, and withhold judgement; in debate let your silences be long, your thoughts clear, and your words carefully chosen.
Never boast, or threaten, or speak evil of anyone.
Be truthful always, save when speaking would lead to a great harm.
Keep clean your body, your clothes, and your house.
Should you take a task upon yourself, work hard and well to accomplish it properly and in good time. Always do the best you can.
Do not haggle over the price of your ritual tools.
Witches know that there no absolute truths.
Witches understand that the universe consist of perfect balance; therefore, everything has an opposite.
Witches realize that for every action there is a reaction. (The Law of Three)
Witches know that we are all one; we are all connected.
Never lie to yourself for this is the ultimate act of deceit.
Witches understand that the ultimate act of spirituality is the act of positive creation through love.
Witches realize that the energy created through worship and rituals manifests as a circular stream of positive energy.
Witches should never close their minds to knowledge.
Never practice a magickal system that you don't fully understand.
Do not set a price on your magickal work.
A witch uses the magickal circle as a physical and non-physical representation of a temple on the earth plane.
Witches use the energies around them to assist in raising power.
Witches use common sense and do not share their mysteries with fools.
A Witch who knowingly breaks the Law (Ordains) will not be permitted to incarnate on Earth again.
